Waltham is a city located in the Middlesex county of MA, just 11 miles northwest of downtown Boston. With over 63,000 residents in 13.6 square miles, it is a densely populated area. It is commonly referred to as the “watch city,” as it is was home to Waltham Watch Company. This was the first company to make watches on an assembly line, opening its factory in 1854. Waltham is also known for its several large estates. Among the most prestigious, is Gore Place, a mansion built in 1806 for former MA governor, Christopher Gore. Today, the 50 acres of land and building has been transformed into a museum open to tourists and visitors.
